Carmen Elaine Eiker
Carmen Elaine Eiker has the distinction of being certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization not only in Family Law, but also in Civil Trial Law, putting her among the 3 percent of the state's licensed attorneys to be Board Certified in two areas of law. This unique blend of skills allows Carmen to provide clients with an experienced and persuasive voice in the courtroom whether she is arguing a motion to the judge or trying a case to a jury.
Carmen's intimate knowledge of each client's case, as well as the intricacies of the trial process, enable her to evaluate and advise clients on the relative risk and benefits of settlement negotiations versus going to court. While she recognizes that the courtroom is rarely the first choice for clients, she knows it may be necessary if mediation or other settlement discussions do not produce the desired results.
Prior to joining the firm, Carmen had a successful solo practice devoted to Family Law where she gained valuable experience in cases involving both property and custody issues. She is an author and speaker on a variety of Family Law issues, and also has been interviewed by both the local and national media for her expertise on those topics. In 2010, Carmen was included in D Magazine's inaugural Best Women Lawyers in Dallas listing.
Carmen has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law since 1990 and in Civil Trial Law since 1992. She is a 1978 graduate of Baylor University School of Law, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1975, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
